Make your website “ADA Compliant” and better accessible for people with disabilities
What is ADA Comply 2.0?
ADA Comply 2.0 is a simple and easy to setup tool to make all your websites better accessible and “ADA compliant”.
This tool is especially important and a “must-have” tool if you have a website and clients or website visitors in the USA.
But even if you have no website visitors from the USA, it’s a good practice to improve your website’s accessibility for people with disabilities.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires businesses to make accommodations for people with disabilities. Hence, Web content should be accessible to the blind, deaf, and those who must navigate by voice, screen readers or other assistive technologies.
So, how can you ensure that your website is “ADA compliant”?
Well, the ADA Comply tool consists of 2 parts…
1) A Side Widget
This Accessibility widget adds features to your website to make it easier for people with disabilities.
- Text to Speech (TTS). Let your viewers select the text content and the App converts the text into speech.
- Display with Dark Mode. Allow people to adjust the coloring to easier readable colors or to black/white for better contrast.
- Magnify (Zoom in). Make your content bigger for viewers who have eye problems or just want to see the content in more detail.
- Text Spacing. To increase the distance between characters.
- Highlight Links. To see the hyperlinks better.
- Cursor. To increase the size of the cursor.
- Readable Font. To change the font.
- Headlines. To highlight the headlines (with black captions).
ADA Comply allows you to easily add this widget to all your websites. Just select the features you want on your website, and copy the automatically generated short script code and add it to the header on your website. That’s it!
2) ADA Policy Statement
In this statement, you explain what your ADA Policy is, what level you want to obtain (A, AA, AAA level), and what your future plan is about how to improve the accessibility for your website.
ADA Comply helps you to easily create this Policy Statement by using a checklist and asking you several questions (whether your website has these options Y/N).
You simply answer this question once…
If your answer is yes, this feature will be included in the Policy Statement…
If you selected no, put a short statement with the required action… and that action is also mentioned in the Policy Statement.
Now, you only have to copy the Policy Statement text and place it on your website (f.e. in the footer).
So, in essence, ADA Comply ensures that your website has taken all the proper actions to make your website(s) “ADA Compliant”.
Watch the short demo video below…
So, what’s the end result?
On every website you have added inside the App, (and where you selected the widget items and entered/answered the Policy Statement questions), you’ll see small “Disability Icon” in the left corner of your site…
After a visitor clicks on the icon, (s)he can use the Side Widget and convert Text to Speech, Increase seizes (Zoom in), or use the Dark Mode.
Want to see it in action?
Just click on this link to the sales page and click on the Disability Icon in the left upper corner…
What’s new in version 2.0?
Version 2.0 comes with a brand new Lead Generation App that finds websites that are not compliant yet.
It also comes with a new Website Analyzation App that analyzes any website you want and creates a slick report with everything that the website is lacking.
Now, you can email this PDF Accessibility Report to your prospect. Hence, it will help you to land clients quickly.
Are there any shortcomings?
Well, all the features just work as described or shown in the demo video.
That said, to fully comply with ADA, it’s not sufficient to just copy and paste the widget code on your website.
ADA involves some other regulations. For example, you need to clearly tell/explain which required level (A, AA, AAA) to try to achieve, and what procedures you take to ensure and secure your website will be ADA compliant in the (near) future.
But the checklist and automatically created ADA Policy Statement is an excellent start.
So, you’ll probably have to analyze (and record) your ADA procedures, as well as to create/update your ADA Policy Statement.
Furthermore, it all depends on how far you want to go and what level you can achieve. You have your own responsibility and can’t hide behind external suppliers.
Especially because if you have breached or violated any part of the ADA, companies can be fined up to huge amounts.
That’s why I advise you to do your “homework” and take the ADA requirements seriously.
With respect to the main front-end offer, you can add 10 websites inside your dashboard. Hence, you can use ADA Comply on 10 websites you own or manage (on behalf of clients).
Furthermore, the front-end version comes with a “powered by branding”.
